Who writes Dog Bite Atlas

Dog Bite Atlas Editorial Team

Dog Bite Atlas is produced by an independent editorial team focused on making U.S. dog bite laws, claims, insurance issues and attorney-selection information easier to understand and verify.

What we do

Our work begins with the legal or practical question a reader is trying to answer. We research that question using primary and authoritative sources, including state statutes, legislative websites, courts, government agencies, state bar resources and insurance regulators where relevant.

We then turn those sources into plain-English explanations, state-by-state comparisons, checklists and practical tools. We aim to distinguish clearly between what a law says, what may depend on the facts of a particular incident and what requires advice from a licensed attorney.

What we are not

Dog Bite Atlas is not a law firm. Our editorial team does not provide legal advice, represent readers, evaluate individual claims or create an attorney-client relationship. Information on this site is educational and general in nature.

How legal information is reviewed

For state-law pages and other content containing legal rules, we prioritize primary sources and display a review date. When a legal rule is uncertain, fact-dependent or subject to exceptions, we say so rather than presenting a simplified statement as universally applicable.

We also separate editorial content from attorney listings and advertising. A lawyer or law firm cannot purchase a favorable editorial conclusion, a legal ranking or a change to our explanation of the law.

Corrections and updates

Laws, agency procedures and insurance practices change. If we identify a material error or receive reliable information showing that a page is outdated, we review the underlying source and update the page when appropriate.
